Diane Morgan

My name is Diane Morgan. After 35 years in education, I remain excited and passionate to serve young people through their education journey. Teaching and leading are life-long skills.  which has developed and grown from humble beginnings at Groenvlei High School where I spent 27 years.

The mentorship by senior colleagues and my involvement in school sport from day one of my teaching career empowered me to grow into a leader in the school and sports community. My teaching subject of history further developed my leadership skills when I was appointed as Chief Marker and then Internal Moderator of Paper One.

I moved to Silikamva High School as deputy principal and then Principal where I spent 5 years in the Imizama Yethu community in Hout Bay. This was a further learning curve and growth period where I have built relations with staff and the broader community that have developed into life-long friendships.

Breaking barriers was part of this journey. It was tough working in a collaboration school, I was exposed to The Great Teacher Training Program and part of the first cohort of principals to do the Instructional Leadership diploma of the International Leadership Institute.

My season in Hout Bay ended when I was appointed principal at Windsor High School in 2020 at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I joined the PPA to be of service, to share best practices, and to learn from my colleagues leading schools. I joined PPA to ensure that novice teachers are supported and that new principals can be supported collaboratively. In this way, our learners and parent communities are further empowered.

I am serving as the Assistant Secretary in the organisation.
