Anthea Adriaanse
My name is Anthea Adriaanse and I am the Principal of Die Duine Primary school, which is situated in Lotus River, Grassy Park. The school is a No-Fee paying school as unemployment and the resulting poverty in the community is rife.
I started teaching at this school in 1992 and was permanently appointed in 1994. In 2017, I became the Principal of the school. The school has grown tremendously over its 45-year existence, starting out with just more than 200 learners. Currently, we have a learner enrolment of 1135, who come from informal settlements, the surrounding farm area, and even as far as Mitchell’s Plain and Steenberg.
We pride ourselves in the quality of education and holistic opportunities offered, making us a school of choice for generations of learners.
In 2018, our school became part of the Progressive Principals’ Association, as it provided opportunities for learner excursions, learner enrichment activities, and staff development and appreciation.
As the Public Relations Officer elected in 2020, I am proud to serve this organisation.
